A bit of background to my novel, Siduri, has been published by the British Fantasy Society. The Chapters in Siduri
Siduri is a book of 26 chapters. If you have read or are reading the book (if not, why not!) then you may have spotted that the chapters have titles. For Siduri the chapter titles are significant and relate to the contents of the chapter. The titles are sometimes relatively famous quotes but there are also quite a few I’ve completely made up.
However, what you might not have realised is that the chapters are deliberately paired either in terms of plot, theme, or simply tone. While this may sound a tad over the top, I think it makes the book more interesting – at least it did for me while writing it! Just for a bit of fun, I thought I’d publish the pairings in the form of pretty pictures.

As a welcome early treat, Siduri, is now available for order worldwide ahead of the official publication date of the 28th of May.
While the paperback costs more than the Ebook, I typically make less from it. However, if you can find an outlet and scrape together the pennies, the paper version is worth it – it’s really pretty.
If you read either, it’d be great if you could leave a review on Amazon or Goodreads (or both). Obviously, I’d like rave reviews but if not, at pinch write at least something funny. Books live and die by the reviews they get, and the quantity of reviews is almost as important as the star rating. Okay, that last bit is not true, but early reviews and early purchases do help a book get noticed.
Moving away from the ‘written-wordy’ side of things, the website (jjvason.com) has been updated. I’ve added a page talking about where the ideas in the book come from and, as always, even more pictures! They’re worth glancing at while reading the book. Do the characters drawn match how you imagine them?

4 weeks to go. The trailers (yup plural) are almost ready. However, the big news of the day is that Hungry Cat is onboard and willing to help sell my book. Yay, Hungry Cat!

Two months to go until Siduri’s release on 28-May-24.
When has all the time gone? I never thought that publishing a book would take so much effort. Still, the paperback now has an approved cover and the text has been, copy-edited, proofread and typeset. The only thing left for the paperback is to now print it … oh, and sell it. Strangely, the typesetting was the most traumatic. There was a fair bit of interaction with the publisher about that. Hopefully, people will like the result. The cover also caused a few problems. Ultimately, we went with one I created myself using my vast graphical design skills (otherwise known as Leonardo AI). Again, hopefully, people like it.
The next step in the process is the ebook. Hopefully, the conversion of the typeset should be straightforward and I won’t have to get involved … much.
The ebook will be available for pre-order from all the usual sites and both the ebook and paperback will be available worldwide.
I’ve also spent (far too much) effort on the website. There are now more pics, desktop wallpaper and even a video (first attempt – be nice).
